CONTROL Resonant SHUM III: Locations, Modes and Rewards
SHUM III includes combat and parkour challenges. Published routes list seven zone cabinets and a post-story cabinet in Dylan's apartment. Unlock requirements differ by cabinet; do not assume every machine needs Zone Level 6. The table separates the cabinet approach from the challenge mode. Cabinet checklist
| Area | Cabinet approach landmark | Reported requirement | Mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown | Southern Fast Travel; Wear 'Em Wash 'Em | Zone Level 6 | Defend |
| Central | Northeast Urban Fresh Mart | Zone Level 4 | Parkour |
| West Incursion | Atlantis Cafe near Empire Avenue Fast Travel | Zone Level 3 | Entropy |
| Evacuation Zone | Eastern access room | Zone Level 6; Evacuation Procedures | Entropy |
| Park | Red door beside the northern mold factory | Zone Level 4; Carbon Copy I–III | Entropy |
| Underpass | Behind the Deepest Underpass approach; Maintenance Protocol rooms | Zone Level 5 | Clocked |
| Unknown | Western factory island; roof access from Gravity Well | Zone Level 5 | Parkour |
| Dylan's apartment | Apartment cabinet | Main-story completion | Retro Conquest |
Some locations require traversal to the room even after the level condition is met. Treat a locked entrance and an inactive cabinet as separate checks: inspect the route first, then its displayed requirement. The Central cabinet landmark identifies where to start; the parkour course itself runs elsewhere. Location routes
Choose the mode that matches your goal
Defend protects crates. Entropy asks you to survive enemy waves in a tightening area. Clocked ties the remaining timer to kills. Parkour rewards completing the route quickly; GamesRadar reports a time penalty for damage. Retro Conquest is the apartment challenge.
Before chasing a target, check whether the displayed value is score, elapsed time or remaining time. They cannot all be compared as “higher is better.” Exact published time thresholds are omitted here because their wording does not consistently establish the timer's meaning. Mode descriptions
What does second place give?
GamesRadar reports these cumulative leaderboard tiers:
| Position reached | Reported added reward |
|---|---|
| Third | Outfit customization |
| Second | Power Upgrade Point |
| First | Reset Item |
A Reddit player PSA likewise describes second place as enough for the main unique rewards, with first adding a Reset Item. That statement can include the lower-tier cosmetic; it does not mean third place gives nothing.
These are published and player-reported tiers, not a cabinet-by-cabinet test on your save. Check the reward display before spending extra attempts on first place. For cosmetics, see Outfits; for ability decisions that may need a reset, see Push or Ground Slam.
